Are you shipping cars to Hawaii?

We urge you to register your dealership with us on line. A few minutes online will save you many hours of document preparation, expense, and will benefit you and your customers in many ways. Our statistics show that more than 80% of US Mainland new car dealers are not familiar with Hawaii's strict new car registration procedures. We facilitate the registration of vehicles that are being shipped from the US Mainland and Canada to the State of Hawaii by using the Hawaii Plates by Mail program that permits us to send Hawaii License Plates, Titles and Certificate of Registration to any address worldwide, BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS SHIPPED.

Simply email our support center is all that is required. A registration specialist will call you back and will guide your staff about proper completion and notarization of MSO's, additional required documents, titles and sales taxes. The same specialist will always be available to you for any questions that you or your customer may have.

What you do:

First, email our support center during office hours, 8am to 6:00pm, Pacific standard Time. After hours, please leave voice mail.

Advise us  that you are in the process of, or have already sold a vehicle that is being shipped to the State of Hawaii. We will take it from here and advise you about sending us the vehicle specifications and buyer information. All documents are immediately inspected upon receipt and you will receive a confirmation call within 15 minutes, from a Aloha Vehicle Registration Online specialist. From this point forward, you will have immediate contact with the same person. This preserves continuity and insures that your documents will be properly prepared as required by Hawaii State Law.

Titling & registration in the State where vehicle has been purchased:

New Vehicle on MSO.

Please do not register or title this vehicle. We will do it for you. Remember that the MSO must be NOTARIZED even if your State does not notarize MSO's, the State of Hawaii WILL NOT register a vehicle if the MSO is not notarized. Call us for instructions FIRST!

Used vehicle.

Transfer TITLE ONLY into new owners name in your State. DO NOT pay registration fees to your State. New and used vehicles are treated the same way. All rgistration fees and/or transfers of ownership in some cases will be established by the County to which the vehicle is being shipped. There are ( 4 ) Counties in Hawaii and each has different rules and charges.

HAWAII NO-FAULT AUTO INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS and the ( the No Fault Card )

Please remember to advise your customer that they must have a (mandatory) Hawaii No-fault insurance and a Hawaii No-fault insurance card with them when they pick up their vehicle in Hawaii. The State of Hawaii does not have a grace period and it is possible to receive severe fines if they are stopped by the police department. Most U.S. Mainland insurance companies are not licensed to sell auto insurance in Hawaii. Therefore, although a Mainland insurance company may tell your customer that they are insured in Hawii, in most cases they are not insured.

Call our support center. Tell your customer to call their current insurance company to advise them that they have purchased a vehicle that is being shipped to Hawaii. They should be very specific and ask their agent if the insurance carrier can provide them with a Hawaii No-Fault Insurance Card. If the answer is no, call us immediately! We do not sell insurance but we will advise them accordingly and we can transmit the vehicle information to any carrier of their choice.

What we do:

Upon receiving the on-line registration forms and fax of the MSO or title and registration ( used vehicles ), we will immediately send you a complete registration package which includes application cards, Residency forms and if applicable, tax forms for vehicles, model years 2002 or later. All documents are prepared for you and will be sent to your dealership within 24 hours by Fedex, UPS, DHL or Express Mail using your account number. Just complete any documents that we are not permitted to complete for you such as Power of Attorney and return to our data center. We do the rest!

The results:

Within 10 business days from the date that we receive your documents, we will register the vehicle in the State of Hawaii and will send to you or the buyer, Hawaii License plates, front and back, Certificate of Registration valid for one year and Certificate of Title unless there is a lienholder.
